📣📣 Driver's Education Announcement and Grant Information
Teens who meet income eligibility guidelines of the Federal free/reduced lunch program can apply to Wisconsin DMV to have their 30-hr classroom, 6-hour observation, and 6-hour behind-the-wheel paid for through grant funding.
Teens who are income-eligible can apply to Wisconsin DMV to receive grant funding to pay for their driver's education. Here’s how the process will work: Students will complete an online application with the Wisconsin DMV at the following link: https://wi.accessgov.com/wisdot/Forms/Page/dmv/degrant/0
They will receive an email confirming or denying their application
o If they are approved, they will be given two coupons, one for classroom and one for behind-the-wheel courses.
o If they are denied, they will receive a reason. In some cases, they may reapply.
Students will be instructed to present this email confirmation with the codes to the driver training school.
Contact your driver training school for assistance or with any questions.
The Clayton School District is no longer providing driver education classes. Clayton School District has previously facilitated driver education classes utilizing Safety and Respect Driving School, but it is just one of the options for driving schools in the area including Northwood Tech, St Croix Valley Driving School, and Accountable Driver Education. Please research schools to find the best match for you and your student.

⚒️🧰🪚 In DIY & Restoration Class, 10th grader Lance Pickard salvaged boards from his grandpa's barn (that his grandpa built), cut them to length, jointed the edges, and attached scrap strips to the back to make the front surface flush. He plans on putting a metal image on the front that he and his uncle will make! A family heirloom, to be sure! Nice work, Lance! ⚒️🧰🪚

🦋 The Monarch caterpillar that we caught 3 weeks ago finally turned into a Monarch butterfly. This butterfly is likely a member of the "super generation" of Monarch butterflies, which will fly the entire migration path back to central Mexico to hibernate for the winter. It will then take multiple Monarch generations to get back up here in the early summer of next year.🦋
